The functionality is built upon optimally structured work queues, which make working in the warehouse efficient. The identification of products and shelf locations is based on barcodes, but the system can also be used without them. The system directs warehouse employees to always pick, pack, and manufacture the order whose processing is currently the most important.

The system can be used either with an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system or as a completely independent system. Valvomo WMS includes ready-made integrations with the most common automated warehouse systems, the nShift or Cargoson transport management system, and several ERP systems. About techniques

In our software, we use new, but already proven reliable technology. We always choose the technologies to be used according to the needs of each project.

In a large part of the solutions, we use the Ruby on Rails software framework, which enables an efficient and agile software development process without unnecessary intermediate steps. For the program's data layer, we can choose both SQL and NoSQL databases, depending on the nature of the data to be stored and its usage needs. The user interface of the software can be integrated or it can be completely separated from the program logic and the database.

The software can be installed on cloud services as well as on virtual servers. Cloud services are a particularly easy solution for our customers when the company does not have its own separate IT department.

What does a WMS actually do?

A WMS guides warehouse staff step-by-step through every phase of daily operations. While traditional accounting or basic Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems only know what items you have and how many, a WMS knows exactly where those items are located and how they should be handled. Here is how a WMS works in practice:

When new stock arrives: The system instructs staff on which specific shelf and bin to store each product.
When inventory levels change: Stock updates immediately across all channels, seamlessly syncing with your online store so customers can’t accidentally purchase out-of-stock items.
When picking an order: The software shows the exact shelf location and uses barcode scanning to ensure the correct item is selected every time.
